PromethION
PromethION offers the same real-time, long-read, direct DNA and RNA sequencing technology as MinION and GridION, at much larger scale.
You may find PromethION suitable for large scale projects such as population-scale sequencing or plant genomics, The PromethION 24 and PromethION 48 systems offer the ability to run 24 and 48 flow cells respectively.
The system allows on-demand sequencing, using any flow cell at any time.
Users can start and stop running individual experiments as required, The PromethION hardware consists of 2 versions, the PromethION 24 (P24) can operate up to 24 flow cells at once and the PromethION 48 (P48) can operate up to 48 flow cells at once.

Each PromethION flow cell allows up to 3,000 nanopores to be sequencing simultaneously

Using current chemistry (early 2019), the best internal yield of a single flow cell is ~220 Gb and the best external result 148 Gb. Yield will depend on the application, extraction and preparation methods

PromethION uses the same nanopore sequencing technology as MinION/GridION:
- PromethION flow cells are compatible with PromethION 24 and PromethION 48 (and also PromethION Beta)
- Flow Cells can be used with gDNA, RNA and cDNA Library preparation kits
- Sample input amount is the same as MinION/ GridION
- Analysis and informatics same as other Nanopore data
